Notes: Hewitt's name is spelled Huit on title page. Hewitt was a royalist rebel who was executed in 1658. A number of texts purportedly by him were printed posthumously, including this collection of prayers, in which there are pieces for 'the King' and in commemoration of the day of Charles I's execution. It was speculated at the time, however, that some of these texts were 'published by interlopers, against Hewitt's wishes' [ODNB].
