Dedicated to Thomas Egerton. In some copies, however, that dedication is cancelled and replaced with one addressing King James I [ESTC]. The book was entered into the Stationers' Register on 23 February 1603, over a month before Elizabeth I's death. The addition of a dedication to James could therefore have been a response to the accession of a new king. |
