The poem was entered into the Stationer's register on 15 April 1603 with a note that John Deane 'gett Aucthoritie for yt' [ESTC; ODNB]. Presents Elizabeth as Esther and Deborah; James as Gideon. Also draws a parallel between James and Richard I by arguing that James will be the second monarch to deserve the title of Lionheart. |
