Latin epigraph on title page: 'Prima canenda venit mater prudentia rerum: | Ordine tunc sequitur mens moderata suo: | Post animus magnus: postremo munera dico | Justitiae, per quam nectitur orbis amor.' Entered into the Stationer's register 4 July 1603. A knighthood followed for Leighton on 23 July [see ODNB].
