An intended shipment of merchandise from Cagliari to Genoa planned by Giovanni Angelo Bermasco in the summer/autumn of 1717 that was disrupted before it could begin. While in Cagliari, then under Habsburg control, Bermasco purchased 100 'cantares' of provisions with the intent to ship them to Genoa. However, in mid-1717, Spanish forces under the command of the Marqués de Rubí laid siege to the city, and during this military campaign, the goods were seized. The confiscation occurred under the justification that the provisions were needed to sustain the Spanish troops occupying the city during the assault and subsequent takeover. Bermasco attempted to recover the value of the confiscated goods through informal channels, but was unsuccessful.
