A voyage from Sardinia with a full cargo of salt and 12 crew bound for Monaco. The vessel approached the north?western coast of Sardinia late on 19?April 1718, where it was struck by contrary landward winds off the Island of Asinara, compelling the captain to crowd on canvas in an attempt to round the cape. The squall then veered abruptly to north?east and then to north?winds, snapping the main yard in two and shredding the entire lateen main sail, leaving the vessel partially dismasted and barely manageable. Battling heavy seas, the crew managed, with great difficultly, to enter the habour of Asinara to take refuge. The vessel left Asinara at some later unspecified date and reached Monaco without further mishap on 9?May.
