A shipment of merchandise loaded in Venice and Barletta and intended for Naples. The vessel loaded blue-dyed cloth, blown glass, turpentine, and mirrors in Venice and departed on 27 October 1715. The patron sought to complete the lading with grain for Naples, but when vessel reached Barletta during the night of 1?November it found the port congested. The vessel then proceeded to Trani on 2?November to await the necessary licence to export wheat from Apulia. After nearly four weeks anchored there, the ship returned to Barletta on 30?November, loaded 2000?'tomoli' of wheat on behalf of the Neapolitan merchant Giuseppe Brunasso, and departed southward on 4?December. By the following day, off the coast between Ostuni and Monopoli, the vessel encountered contrary north-east winds and was forced to seek shelter in a small cove near Polignano. The vessel lay weather-bound from 5 to 18?December alongside another Genoese vessel commanded by Michele Manzini. During the night of 18–19?December, a violent winter gale burst into the cove. The storm parted the stern mooring lines of the vessel, dragged the anchor, and drove it onto the rocks, shattering the hull and rendering the ship a total wreck. The entire cargo was lost to the sea and could not be salvaged.
