A shipment of almonds, leather, millstones, dried cod, textiles, rope, and sailing equipment (as cargo) loaded in Marseille and destined for Genoa. The vessel departed Marseille on 11 February 1720, briefly stopping en route at Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco, where the patron collected the official dispatch papers for the voyage. After departing those ports, the ship proceeded eastward along the Ligurian coast where, while rounding Capo Mele on 13 February, it was caught in a violent storm with strong south-west winds and stormy seas. The crew jettisoned two large yards and one mast (which were cargo), along with a newly equipped small boat with its gear, empty barrels, a cooking stove, and cut away a quantity of rigging in attempt to save the vessel. The storm also snapped the mainsail yard, damaged the central beam, and tore the foresail and mainsail. In addition, the bow and bulwarks were lost and all of the cargo on board was soaked with seawater. The ship continued to sail under damaged conditions for several days, seeking refuge in Savona around 23:00 on 19 February, where the captain made a testimony for damages and declare general average.
