A shipment of wheat loaded in Termini and barrels of salted anchovies, oil from Linosa, sumac, silk, rabbit fur, and other goods loaded at Palermo destined for the ports of Civitavecchia, Livorno, and Genoa. The vessel departed Palermo on 20 December 1721 under favorable south/south-east winds, progressing without issue until the evening of 22 December, roughly 130 km away from Civitavecchia, where the vessel was struck by a violent storm, with heavy north/north-west winds, and colliding with large southerly waves, causing cross-seas that overwhelmed the vessel. The main sail was torn, and the ship began taking on significant water. The crew changed course toward the southeast in response and undertook emergency measures to lighten the vessel. They jettisoned key equipment and cargo but despite these efforts, the storm continued to batter the vessel, damaging almost all of the remaining merchandise. The crew continued to bail water from the bilge and on the evening of 24 December the vessel managed to seek refuge in Lipari, where the patron formally submitted a testimony the following day to document the losses
