Note: Prior to its incorporation as a Mughal province (suba) in the second half of the seventeenth century, Bidar was a major city and capital of the Bahmani Sultanate, hence the epithets "City of Muhammad (Muhammadabad)" and "City of Victory (Zaffarabad)."
