Notes: 'Given at our Castle of Windsor, the sixt day of July, 1603'. In response to the plague, James here makes plans 'to forebeare of that Solemnitie [ie. the coronation], whatsoever is not Essential to it, and to deferre all shewe of State and Pompe accustomed by our Progenitors' [SRP, I, p. 38]. James's coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 25 July 1603 but his entrance to the City was suspended until 1604.
