Proclamation
Notes: Title from SRP; the 1603 publication has the words 'By the King' printed at the head of the sheet. 'Given at our Castle of Windsor, the xi. day of July, 1603'. Alludes to James's previous proclamation to suspend the royal entry due to plague [see stc 8325; SRP, I, no. 19]. A fair was due to be set up 'near our house of S. James' during the coronation. For the same reason that the entry had been suspended, so James here proclaims that the fair should be 'put off...some few dayes'.
