Notes: The title refers to Charles as Prince of Wales, so the publication was clearly composed prior to James's death. Strictly speaking it is a celebration of the agreement that Charles would marry Henrietta Maria. The discussion, however, does touch upon ideas of the continuity of the royal lineage through the marriage and for that reason is included here. 6-page dedication addressed 'To the Hope of His Countrie, the Comfort of his Father, the Joy of his Friends, the terrour of his Enemies, the most wise, valiant, and vertuous Prince; The Most High and Mighty Charles, Prince of Wales, the sole Sonne, and chiefe solace of the most Potent, Prudent, Pious, Learned, Peaceable, Warlick King James'.
