Notes: | The date on the imprint of the Bodleian copy [Wing C1570A] has been altered: the second '1' in 1661 is overwritten by a '0'. The Thomason copy from the British Library [Wing C1571] also has a 1661 imprint but the '1' has been struck through and '1660' written next to it. It is dated 'march 16 1660'. MacLean dates the publication 15 March 1661 [RoK, Poem 13.1]. EEBO has copies dated both 1660 and 1661, suggesting that the poem was first published in 1660 and then re-printed in 1661. It looks, though, as if the poem was first published in 1661. Two ballads on the discontent of overlooked Cavaliers: 'The Cavaleer's Complaint' and 'An Eccho[sic] to the Cavaleer's Complaint'. |
