Notes: Imprint reads F. Grove; Francis Grove from BBTI. No date is given. May 1660 tentatively suggested by MacLean [RoK, Poem 5.21]. In two parts: 'England's Captivity Returned' and 'The second part to the same Tune.' Printed on the verso of the first part is part of the ballad 'The True Lovers' Knot Untied'. About the marriage of Arbella Stuart to William Seymour, this dates from c.1610-1615. Seymour had died in 1660, probably prompting the reprint [MacLean, RoK, Poem 5.21]. MacLean re-produces the first part of 'England's Captivity' and 'The True Lover's Knot Untied' and suggests that only the first part of 'England's Captivity' has survived. The second part is reproduced on EEBO [from the Bodleian copy]. It confirms the poem's pro-Restoration stance and does little to illuminate the apparent irony of the poem's title. Illustrated woodcuts: one of Charles II and one of Henry Pym accompany the first part of 'England's Captivity' [MacLean, citing Ebsworth]; one of a cavalier and a lady accompany 'The True Lovers' Knot Untied'; one of armies fighting in the sky above a castle accompanies the second part of 'England's Captivity'.
