Charles II Ballad Illustrated |
Notes: | Imprint reads F.G. on Snow-hill; Francis Grove, who worked from Snow-hill at this time, from BBTI. Woodcuts illustrating Charles, his two brothers the Duke of York and the Duke of Gloucester, and his three sisters, Anne, Elizabeth and Mary. MacLean suggests a date post-September 13 because the depiction of Henry with his hand placed on a skull seems to allude to his death on that date [RoK, Poem 11.4]. |
