Another imprint from the same year was printed by P.L. [Wing H3234]. Imprint reads printed 'for G.C.'. Since the book was sold at the Black Spread-Eagle, this is almost certainly Giles Calvert. On June 4, Hubberthorn delivered a letter from George Fox to Charles II; this work details the ensuing conversation between Hubberthorn and Charles. Another version of this work had already been printed in 1660 [see Wing A222A]. This version claims greater accuracy; there are variants, including a paragraph added at the end of the conversation in which Hubberthorn claims that Charles promised that Quakers would no longer be subject to persecution. |
