The ship was dragging the anchors, however, moving ever further from Livorno. Four hours before the dawn the captain made a consultation with the crew and it was decided to cut the main mast. The ship managed to maintain its position until the dawn but then began to drag its anchor again. They found themselves fourteen miles away from Livorno and the ship touched the bottom. Knowing that the ship was lost the captain consulted with his crew and it was decided to raise the sail of the foremast in order to beach the ship, in order that they might close the distance between them and the land in order that they might have a better chance of saving the crew and the merchandise. The ship remained in this condition, being battered by the storm for two hours, until it finally capsized and was pushed onto its side. The crew threw around 40 bales of wool into the sea at this point. Then the ship began to break up and every man sought to save himself - 13 managed to do so |

| Transcription: | Arando tuttavia la nave et lassandosi Livorno molto lontado da levante sendo circa 4 hore avanti giorno fece detto Padrone con tutta sua Gente consulta di vedere quello era bene di fare per cercare di salvarsi da cosi crudele fortuna et cosi fu concluso tagliare l’albero maestro come segni con tagliare tutti li sartiami sopra vento che tutto cascho in mare rompendosi l’antenne et perdendosi il tutto il che fatto la nave stette surta fino al giorno chiaro ma di poi cominciando la nave ad arrare sendo lontana da Livorno circa 14 miglia trovandosi in poca acqua et che la nave toccava et conoscendosi persi detto Padrone per accostarsi in terra et per vedere che si salvasse più mercanzia et gente che fusse possibile con consulta [insertion] di tutti [/] taglio tutte dette gumine et fatto vela del trinchetto [arriva] forza andò a investire in terra nella piaggia il che fatto la nave stette con battuta dalla tormenta per 2 hore; et poi per forza fu detta nave fatta abbocconata da banda sinistra et altra a mizza noce [sic] gitto tutte la gente circa 40 balle allo mare dalla banda abbocconata, et poi la nave si cominciò a disfare sendo portata via perse da alto da colpa di mare il che visto dalla gente ognuno cerco di salvarsi il che successe a 13 in tutto quali, con l’aiuto divino vennero in terra |
