The Tartana La Madonna del Carmine was heading from Croton with grain, bound for either Livorno or Genoa. At ‘Castello a Mare’ there was bad weather and the ship sheltered for 3 days before setting out again. At ‘Monte Cercelli’ it encountered a storm with winds from the south and the south east that lasted all day and night. The ship was forced to run back towards ‘Cava Dansa’. The wind then changed to westerly and north-westerly. The ship lost its main mast in the storm and some of the grain got soaked.

The general average was refused by the authority so there are no details of average or damages.
