Description
A number of celebrations were held in London, the most significant of which was Hugh Parry’s Mayflower Pageant. But a great many smaller celebrations also took place, usually in the form of lectures and public meetings. On one Saturday in October 1920, the Dutch Church at Austin Friars in the City of London held a special 4pm service. The church had been home to the first European refugees who first began preaching the anti-Trinitarian doctrines which were to become so important to the wider Protestant movement. At Essex Hall, off the Strand, there was a Young People’s Meeting, which attracted visitors from across the southeast.
