Buonaccorsi had a ship coming from Lisbon to Livorno, the Santo Dominico, with Paolo Maria Cardi as captain. When Buonaccorsi discovered that the French Armada was abroad in the water around Livorno he sent a Felucca captained by Giovanni Pietro Mattei from Livorno as far as Barcellona to find the ship and warn it of the French Armada’s position. Gio. Pietro successfully carried out his mission, and Cardi took the Santo Domenico into Genova instead.

The French had not yet moved their fleet however, so Buonaccorsi sent a messenger on foot to Genova to tell Cardi not to sail for Livorno until he received further instructions. When the Armada moved to the bay of Ponsa, the Felucca of Giuseppe Ballati was sent to Genova to tell Cardi to come down to Livorno with the good weather. The Felucca of Gio. Pietro was sent off to the Bay of Gorgona to keep a look out for the return of the French armada. In the meantime Cardi had also employed a Felucca to scout ahead for the Armada. The expenses for all these expeditions were put into general average, as were the expenses of fifteen days spent waiting in the port of Genova.

NB. There is only a 'testimoniale e domanda' document in this file and no consolato. It is submitted not by the captain but by the owner of the ship, Lorenzo Buonaccorsi.
