The ship encountered bad weather near the kingdom of Naples with heavy rain and a westerly wind. With the consent of the crew and the supercargo the captain decided to run before the wind, and for two hours the ship headed towards the land. At around five in the morning  it was decided, with the consent of all parties, to jettison some of the cargo of wine, along with some water, ropes, and other equipment. The next day the wind was still strong, but the ship made it into the port of Milazzo by the evening of the following day where the consolato was made.
