Captain Martino Erman of Antwerp sailed for Lisbon and Livorno from Pernambuco with a cargo of sugar, brazilwood and other merchandise. In the Gulf of Lyon they encountered a storm with winds from the north-west. When they tried to furl the mainsail it ripped and they had to cut it to remove it.

After two days and nights of the storm they decided, with consulation with the ship and the interested parties, to make a jettison. With the ship riding the storm better and the weather calmed a little, they stopped jettisoning but the storm lasted several days more. Six days later they made it into Livorno and made a consolato.
