Extra information from the source
The same captain and ship were involved in another GA case (see ASP, CM, AC, 326-13 and ASP, CM, S, 985-33).  It was subsequently decided, on the opinion of a carpenter and master carpenter, that the ship was not fit to sail and would have to be brought on to land for repairs - guards from the health office reported seeing the crew of the ship continually engaged in the bailing out of water.  In the calculus only one rope is mentioned, despite the mention of two broken ropes in the consolato.
