The ship left Amsterdam (where there was much ice) and headed for the English channel. There was a huge storm but the ship apparently emerged unscathed. State then encountered a French corsair, which had already taken the Delfino Doro and the S. Niccole which had left Flanders in Convoy. In order to prepare the ship for the encounter the captain ordered some water casks to be jettisoned but in the event the Frenchman left them alone.

The second incident occurred whilst the ship was anchored outside the pier in Livorno. A strong wind from the land started dragging the unprotected ships hither and thither. The State was dragged towards the pier and struck the stones. The prow was damaged and seven feet of water entered the ship. In the meantime the captain was cutting ropes in order to minimise this damage. He cut the anchor rope and now the ship was adrift. The ship crashed into the Stella Dorata and both ships took damage. More ropes were cut and the crew of the State had to bail out all night.

NB. The ship has not been included in the calcolo as would normally be the case for a GA. Since the ship was declared 'innavigabile' (unseaworthy) this is most likely the reason it is not included
