Humanitarian Situation Analysis Paper 17.10.2002

FOI171.pdf

This DFID paper assesses the impact of the invasion of Iraq upon its people. It analyses key aspects of the state and its infrastructure including its oil production, the population’s reliance on aid and the impact of sectarianism.

This paper is extremely through in its examination of Iraq prior to the invasion and would be useful to scholars as the document demonstrates the British understanding of life for Iraqi citizens. This is critical in any analysis of the humanitarian impact of the invasion as the document sets out how the state help in supporting its citizens and what infrastructures exist to facilitate this.
